Lawyer advertising has really improved. I opened my copy of the October 2003 issue of Corporate Counsel magazine and found the following great examples of good advertising:
CATCHING THE EYE
The Bingham McCutchen ad (at right) is hilarious. It depicts people making “sourpuss” faces because they’ve just swallowed some horrible-tasting drink. The tagline reads: “Financial restructuring, without the bitter aftertaste.” I love it!
I also love the oxen in the Osler Hoskin ad. It has the tagline “for the defense” and an intimidating row of three mighty oxen illustrates the point.

IDENTIFYING CLIENTS
Fish & Neave -- names a client: Linea Technology
Foley : Lardner -- includes a success story – protecting the brand of Northland Cranberries. The ad depicts the client and is a 2-page spread
Hale and Dorr -- names clients including Analog Devices, Boston Scientific and Procter & Gamble
Phillips Lytle – names a client: Ford Motor Credit
Brinks Hofer – includes a success story for Herrmann Miller about protecting the design of their Aeron chair
Lord Bissell – Names clients Apotex Inc., Fidelity National Financial and Trek Bicycle, as a part of it’s “Lord Over the Fray” repositioning ads, which I think are working very well.
Edwards & Angell – lists a success story on behalf of client Morphochem
