This just in from Bev Davis at Jordan Schrader:

Not so fast! Jordan Schrader PC has sponsored auto racing, albeit not at this level. One of our partners, John Baker, races locally and regionally and we sponsor him and his car as the DirtLaw car. He won the Rose Cup in his class a couple of years ago--no small feat, but it's not NASCAR, either. Unfortunately, John's car, equipment, van, supplies, etc were all stolen last year so we are out of the racing sponsorship game for a while.

So, while Jenkins, Jenkins & Jenkins may be the first law firm to sponsor NASCAR, they are not the first law firm to sponsor auto racing. :)

Here's an interesting item I picked up -- a law firm sponsoring racing teams.  I've never heard of a law firm doing something like this.

Growing Legal Firm, Sports Marketing Agency Team Up For Motorsports Sponsorships

LA PLATA, Md. – One of the country’s most established, yet fastest-growing legal firms, has teamed with one of the country’s top sports marketing agencies for a new extensive involvement in motorsports.

Jenkins, Jenkins & Jenkins, P.A., headquartered in La Plata, is planning on sponsorships of stock car racing teams in 2004. The firm will work with Williams Company of America, Inc, a Mooresville, N.C.-based agency that is considered the leader in motorsports public relations.

The firm says it will sponsor BAM Racing and its No. 49 Dodge for Ken Schrader for the entire Nextel Cup season and run selected Cup races with Score Motorsports' No. 02 for Hermie Sadler and four races with Haas/CNC Racing's No. 0 car for Ward Burton. In the Busch Series, the firm will appear on Haas/CNC's No. 00 for Jason Leffler all season, Moy Racing's No. 77 for Donnie Neuenberger all season and Sadler's Busch entry. Trucks it will support include Bobby Hamilton Racing's No. 4 and 28, the No. 38 Ford of Brandon Whitt and Innovative Motorsports' No. 21 Toyota of Hank Parker Jr.

“Like other companies, our firm is looking towards motorsports to help as we expand our business and help our clients,” said Frank P. Jenkins, who owns the highly-respected firm with his father, Louis P. Jenkins, Sr., who started the firm over 40 years ago, and his brother, Louis P. Jenkins, Jr.

“Our firm’s focus is aimed solely at satisfying our clients’ various needs,” he said. Jenkins, Jenkins & Jenkins specializes in personal injury, all real estate matter, criminal, traffic and corporate law.

“Jenkins, Jenkins & Jenkins has some exciting announcements to make in the near future about its involvement with motorsports, and specifically NASCAR racing,” said Williams Company president Richard N. (Chip) Williams. “No law firm has ever attempted the involvement they are preparing to announce, and we are very excited to be working with them.”
