The Network of Trial Law Firms, Inc., conducted short video interviews with a half-dozen senior lawyers from its Network member law firms. "Law firm consultant Larry Bodine was instrumental in conducting the interviews and producing the videos," said Network Executive Director and General Counsel Ellis Mirsky.
"The purpose was to collect short interviews that could be viewed by our member firm attorneys and their clients.To say that we are gratified with the early results would be an understatement. We plan to add more interviews to our collection over the coming year," Mirsky said.
The first video on effective lawyer marketing is a four-minute interview of Scott O'Connell, a partner with Nixon Peabody in Boston. Additional videos will be posted online the coming weeks.
Among Scott's business developoment tips:
• The best lessons in how to get clients as a lawyer were learned waiting tables as a young man.
• It is up to the individual attorney, not the marketing department, to develop new business.
• Using social media to stay abreast of legal developments.
• Young lawyers should be out of their office, meet a lot of people, and differentiate yourself with a legal specialization.
